How a Debt Management Program Works
The FreedomQuest Debt Management Program consolidates all your unsecured debts into one monthly payment. Every month, you’ll send one check to Consolidated Credit Counseling Services who will distribute your money to all your creditors under improved terms. You also have the option of using AutoPay, which will automatically withdraw the payment every month from your bank account to make sure that you’re never late.
You will continue to receive monthly statements from your creditors showing that the payments have been made. Depending on how much debt you have, it can take anywhere from 36-60 months to pay off your debts.
How Do You Qualify for the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program?
A certified credit counselor from Consolidated Credit Counseling Services will provide you a free debt consultation, and advise you whether or not you qualify for the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program. Then the credit counselor will contact your creditors to:
- Reduce monthly payments
- Reduce or eliminate interest rates
- Lower or waive fees
By joining the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program you can save hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars.
How Long Will It Take to Pay Off Your Debts on Your Own
It depends on how much unsecured debt you have, what your interest rates are, and how much you are paying per month. For example, if you have two credit cards that have the combined debt of $8,000 with interest rates averaging 18.0%, and you pay the minimum of $240 per month, here’s the difference:
|
On Your Own |
Debt Management Program |
Months to Pay Off Debt |
46 |
38 |
Total Paid |
$11,173.33 |
$9,240.31 |
Total Interest Paid |
$3,173.33 |
$1,240.31 |
In this example, the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program would get you out of debt 8 months sooner, and you’d save $1,933.02.

Please note: To enter the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program, there are a few restrictions imposed by your creditors in exchange for lowering your interest rates and waiving fees. You cannot apply for any new credit cards while you’re in the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program. The accounts you place under debt consolidation must be closed. Your creditors will not allow you to make additional charges on these accounts after lowering or eliminating the interest rates. Some creditors allow you to keep one credit card open while you’re on the FreedomQuest Debt Management Program. If you need to keep one open for business purposes, discuss this with your credit counselor.
